(initiated by –YT PL3 – TSC12 Jesse Prinz, Attention as The Mechanism of Consciousness.mp3)

Aspects:

Attention, directing on brain discrepancy detection system operating on the model systems (which usually sit on sensorial systems)

Models: 3d vector representations built unconsciously from feedback from external & internal environments

Receiving / interrupting: Underlying unconscious system & capability that leaks only discrepancies: compare two models.

Object of attention: discrepancy between more than one model. Usually mental model and sensorial feedback. EsSample+ is between those mental model and internal.

Sending / directing: deploy attention to discrepancy, and to each model and linked models

Definition and nature of awareness: 6th and new sensory organ, sensing discrepancy system.

Definition of comparison-enablement: brain systems (processes and sensory apparatus retro-fitted to feed discrepancy system)

Mediation of integration of all brain systems (not sleep-walking, self-reflection employing 7 Ramachandran measures under comparison, where the comparison is to event/autobiographical memory): non-hierarchical network.

Fully conscious : critical level of inter-system feedback to become aware after sleep or comatose. (?frequency beta?)

Variations delivering profiles of conscious minds:

Degrees of reception in mind-consciousness loop (all dimensions in population):

Degrees of representation in mind-consciousness loop (all dimensions in population):

Degrees of projection/identity in mind-consciousness loop (all dimensions in population):

Degrees of brain systems integration (now across population):

Degrees of brain deployment (elapsed time across population):

Mind shape: per system and per model component: discrepancy volume, detection, tolerance:

Decibels of output of discrepancies:

Decibel sensitivity of sensory organ:

Interference/chaff decibels: from equipment (each node in each hierarchy of model) no such distinctive thing as interference / chaff – these are the same discrepancies, but just running background when we consider foreground spotlight. We could just as easily rotate the stage or spotlight.

Perception shape (Leon Wieseltier)

Distance across (transference) & up (representation) their mindscape.

Visible in their verbal and non-verbal, but not in their written portrayals.

Decibels of output of discrepancies: discrepancy intolerance

Decibel sensitivity of sensory organ: to the noises

Interference/white noise decibels: from equipment (each node in each hierarchy of model)

Degrees of representation in hierarchies (all dimensions in population):

Meta-meta representation

Meta representation

None (nose against windscreen)

Degrees of projection/identity/compulsion in hierarchies (all dimensions in population):

Degrees of brain systems & hierarchies integration (now across population):

‘Normal’ conscious

Agnosia (graded and modular disconnection from comparison system, graded and modular absence of modelling/function)

Mono-attention (graded exclusion of sensory and models by attention deficit, varying from innate or atrophied)

Sleep walking (varying from total automated behaviour to fully conscious having only short term memory disconnected)

Comatose

Degrees of brain deployment (elapsed time across population):

Hyper-stimulated

Normal

Deprived

Sleep is disconnection from the discrepancy system, and is re-playing the underlying models. The presence of autobiographical self is from memory, and do not include discrepancy detection during replay.

(BBCHorizon) From integration diverse modules talking to each other, measures degree of network operating – but this is still the measure and not what’s being delivered in the connectedness.

Outside-inwards classifications of conscious

Conscious (internal feedback to multiple selves at worst, internal model at best)

Model

Zombie, unconscious alien iq1000: the practical/material/self-evident absence of (evidence of) attention being directed inwards to new sense organ. Most use of this term is theoretical, such that it assumes internal consciousness. But the reality is that consciousness (as Greenfield says) has a variable level in a fully capable mind, and of varied quality in each of the components contributing to that consciousness.
