(writing in progress)
I read ‘NVC Discussion Space’ on some shares on parenting. And I remembered I had snippeted a line in Home, but was unable to find it as I remembered it.
And realised I had learned NVC and humanity since I imagined the original. So I needed to re-write it, and here’s the start.
The more you are a parent to a being, the less you are a being to that being, a being with that being.
The more you parent, the less you reflect, awaken, grow, enable, and launch the person. You can do all the latter without the former.
(And these last two from Home wet my cheeks)
In the end, the worst thing we can do is tell them. Anything.
In the end, the best thing we can do is ask them. Everything.
Those words above are towards egolessness and formlessness. Or auto-awareness and EsSample – where parent is a role and not an identity or a being.
I know that failing the above, Giraffe will demand a minimum of humanity permeate their existence, in orientation, behaviour and ontology.
And failing that, demand the foundational bricks of OFNR – but be aware that without humanity, the bricks may not be afforded the Marshall mortar of empathy and honesty.
And failing that, laws demanding OFNR, although more of its lawyers are likely to be more jackal than giraffe as they are today.
